The reception attracted more than a dozen USC Alumni, friends and family from the DFW area.  The event’s highlights included remarks by Dean Weisberg and Van A. Romans. Club President Ray Martinez welcomed the group and spoke about the Trojan family in DFW.

Dean Weisberg was in Dallas on Saturday to participate in a symposium at SMU, and while in the Metroplex on Sunday, visited Mr. Romans (Master of Fine Arts, USC ’73), a former student and friend. Mr. Romans recently accepted the position as President and moved to Fort Worth in 2004 after 25 years at Walt Disney Imagineering in Southern California.

Dean Weisberg, who has been dean at USC for 9 years and on the faculty since 1971, is an internationally known artist working in painting, drawing and printmaking. Her works have been featured in museums around the world including the Smithsonian, the Huntington Art Collection iMuseum Pres. Van A Romans, Dean Ruth Weisberg, and Club President Ray Martinezn San Marino and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. She has a son and daughter who are USC grads.

The entire Fort Worth Museum of Science and History was decorated with 2003 National Championship Football Banners and Posters for the event. Mr. Romans and Ms. Gretchen Denny from the museum also had the Trojan Marching Band CD piped through the museums speakers the entire day!

For many Trojans who brought their children, it was fun for them to visit the five exhibits open at the museum.

Special thanks to Dean Weisberg for the visit and to Mr. Van A. Romans and Ms. Gretchen Denny for their kind words and for hosting the event at the Fort Worth Museum. Special thanks to Social Coordinator Christy Zegub who coordinated the event for the Club and to all who attended including board members David Meadows, Ginger Swallow, Sheri Martinez, and past President John Tiholiz. Thanks also to Lou Anne Greenwald, Director of Development, USC School of Fine Arts and Serena Overhoff, Director, Clubs and Volunteer Organizations for coordinating from Los Angeles.
